4th Annual SPBS Easter Breakfast A Resounding Success

On Saturday April 4, 2015 the Sandy Point Benevolent Society's traditional Easter breakfast brought in excess of some two hundred Kittitian and Nevisian citizens together to reconnect and fellowship with each other and to partake in a most delicious spread of food and drinks at the Church of the Holy Nativity in the Bronx, New York. The festivities began at the break of morning with a brief welcome by the Founder and President, Dr. Stewart Willliams.  The vice president Mr. Vincent Hodge then asked God’s blessing on the gathering and the food.  The function lasted well past one o’clock in the afternoon.  By all accounts, the 4th annual production of the SPBS Easter breakfast was a hit.

For the past four years, the SPBS, a not for profit organization based in the US has successfully hosted an Easter Saturday breakfast, offering patrons delightful and tasty choices of traditional Easter foods. The group of hard working citizens, have also met with great success at re-uniting hundreds of citizens, especially Sandy Pointers and others from the adjoining villages residing abroad.  Steadily, the number of supporters to the annual breakfast has grown and those committed to the cause of public service also continues to grow.
This year, patrons got a chance to relish in the taste of home combined with a hint of American treats. Guests treated themselves to boiled and scrambled eggs, salt-fish, rolls, Johnny cakes, conchie, mashed and whole green bananas, mackerel, dumplings, salt-fish balls, pumpkin fritters and fried plantains, tasty bread pudding and many other treats. Most used the opportunity to savor local bush tea and ginger beer.

Members from other New York based organizations were also in attendance to support the breakfast and to promote their various community outreach initiatives.

Later in the proceedings, President & Founder, Stewart "Peppa" Williams expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of SPBS and to the entire team of workers who continue to immerse themselves in planning, organizing and delivering a successful event year after year.

Williams also offered special thanks to patrons who attend the much talked about breakfast annually, including sister organizations who continue to uphold the nation's motto of country above self in the work they do abroad for their respective Kittitian and Nevisian causes in the federation.

Williams took the opportunity to remind attendees of the remarkable work of the SPBS. The visionary group of men and women continue to work tirelessly to pour resources into the advancement of students of the CEMSS and ultimately the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.  In fact, in the next few weeks, SPBS will equip students at the CEMSS with state of the art intercom system that will vastly enhance the communication throughout the campus. The principal will be able to stay in her office and communicate in real time, with the entire school in their respective classes. The commitment of the SPBS is clear. The youth of our independent nation will benefit immensely from the investments of the SPBS. The Annual Easter breakfast is but one of the vehicles that help to drive the educational initiatives of the SPBS.

The SPBS thanks all who continue to contribute to the various fundraisers of the organization and looks forward to continued support for the annual Easter Breakfast.

Save the date for the organization's Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Maestro's in the Bronx, New York.

Thanks again to all for supporting the SPBS Easter Breakfast 2015.
